The "Maker in China" 2019 Hong Kong Chapter

2019 The "Maker in China" SME Innovation and Entrepreneurship Global Contest jointly organised by the China SME Development Promotion Centre of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Department of Education and Technology of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, attracted more than 90 innovative and entrepreneurial projects, more than 80 PhDs and university professors, successfully attracting investment intentions of 60 million. Hong Kong representatives were also ranked in the top 10 in the world.

Explore the needs of enterprises in innovation and technology

The organizing committee of the Contest visited the Chamber of Commerce and a number of enterprises to understand the innovative technology needs and investment budget of the development of enterprises. 10 Hong Kong enterprises were invited to participate into the Innovative projects and successfully attracting investment intentions of 60 million.

Opening Ceremony
Seminar on Investment Needs of Technology Solutions for Local Enterprises
At the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong chapter held at Cyberport on 29 August, 10 Hong Kong companies were invited to share details of their investment needs in innovation and technology. 2018 Hong Kong representatives “Novus”, the previous Global Champion, shared their development opportunities after the awards.

Briefing Sessions
Three briefing sessions were held at the Hong Kong Science Park, The University of Hong Kong and the University of Hong Kong respectively to share the award-winning projects of the past competition and introduce the technology needs of enterprises.

October 2019
Semi-final, top ten projects was selected
Semi-finals was held at Angel Investment Foundation. 11 industry experts and professors were invited to serve as judges. The top 10 projects were selected for the final.

Visiting Hong Kong Science Park and the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute
The representatives from Angel Investment Foundation and the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer of the HKSAR came into contact with the representatives of the government and business community from Mainland China to visit the Hong Kong Science Park and the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute.

Hong Kong Chapter Finals
Final was held at Cyberport on 6 November. The contest was also one of the highlights of Cyberport's annual flagship event, the Venture Capital Forum (CVCF), which attracted nearly 200 business and innovative technology investors to attend.

Before the finals, Corporate innovation investment summit - invest in Technovation to Drive Business continuity forum was hosted by Ms. Alice So, the head of the Cyberport Entrepreneur Group.
