2023

This year’s competition received near 150 entries, similar to last year’s, with a total of more than 237 patents involved in the projects. Some of the projects have won awards in other international innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, and there are also commercialized research projects from renowned universities, making the contest very competitive.

2022

14June – 19 August 2022

The final of the 2022 “Maker in China” SME Innovation and Entrepreneurship Global Contest – Hong Kong Chapter was held in Cyberport on August 19, 2022. More than 150 teams contestants in this contest, the most ever, and the response was overwhelming. The contestant’s projects have a total of 100 patents, and as many as 70% of the entrants have also won other well-known international innovation and technology competitions. It has facilitated 60 meetings with investors and corporate representatives to conduct financing matching, and introduce innovative ideas from start-ups into the Greater Bay Area. , to promote the overall industrial development of the Greater Bay Area as an international innovation and technology center.

2021

17 June – 18 August 2021

For the third time, Hong Kong had successfully held the contest, and the Hong Kong team had again made outstanding achievements on the global stage. The 1st runner-up of the Hong Kong Chapter has won the champion at the Global Contest, and the champion of the Hong Kong Chapter had also won the 1st runner-up at the Global Contest. In addition, 2nd runner-up of the Hong Kong Chapter was the only selected project from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan for the first collection and release activity of “Light of Innovation” Outstanding Achievements of SME Technological Innovation organised by the International SME Promotion Centre of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

2019

In 2019, Hong Kong held the contest again, and as an official government-sponsored event for the first time. Organized by China Centre for Promotion of SME Development, MIIT, Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Department of Youth Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, China International Cooperation Association of SMEs and co-organised by Hong Kong Cyberport and Angel Investment Foundation.

2018

17 May 2018

The first edition of the Hong Kong Chapter was held by the Angel Investment Foundation and supported by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. It was held during the “Entrepreneurship Day” as a concurrent event at the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre. Representatives from Hong Kong was also the global champion of the “Maker in China” SME Innovation and Entrepreneurship Global Contest Final.
